DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPUTY PURSER (CATERING)

115. The duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Purser (Catering), when he is in charge of the department, will be as for the Purser (Catering) with the exception that he will be responsible for the ship's cash to the Commander. (See also Reg. 37).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PURSER (CLERICAL) AND THE CHIEF STEWARD (ASIAN)

116. In ships which do not carry a Purser (Catering) or a Deputy Purser (Catering), the duties detailed above under the heading "Bureau" (Reg. 114) will devolve on the Purser (Clerical), and those under the headings "Hotel Services" (Reg. 112) and Passengers (Reg. 113) will devolve on the Chief Steward (Asian), with the following qualification :-

(a)

The proceeds of Bar, Canteen, Shop and other sales on board will be deposited by the Chief Steward with the Purser (Clerical) at intervals determined by the Commander, in any event not exceeding one week. The Purser (Clerical) will closely account to the Commander for all such sums which will be paid over by the Commander to the Company at the close of each voyage with supporting documents.
The Purser (Clerical) will justify to the Commander any cash required to be drawn from Agents on a Cash Requisition Form.

(b)

The Chief Steward will he responsible to the Chief Officer for the cleanliness of the Saloon Crew quarters ; the Chief Officer will bear the ultimate responsibility to the Commander on this score.
